B&Q team to trek from Lincoln to Skegness in aid of BBC Children In Need
Four plucky B&Q employees from the DIY-giant’s Skegness store are lacing up their hiking boots in readiness for a charity trek, which begins tomorrow, Friday 17th October.
Trading manager David Peckham (41) will be joined by customer assistants James Tilley (21), Jamie Brazier (22) and Jamie Cave (20) as they aim to walk the 45 miles from B&Q’s Lincoln branch on Beevor Street, all the way back up the coast to the B&Q warehouse on Wainfleet Road, Skegness. The arduous journey, which will take around 36 hours, is raising essential funds for BBC Children In Need.
David, who lives in Horncastle, said: “B&Q is a staunch supporter of BBC Children In Need and seeing the merchandise come in store prompted me to think about how I could raise some extra funds. Last September, I walked Hadrian’s Wall in aid of Multiple Sclerosis Society, and as I love walking I thought I’d see if any of the guys from the store wanted to get involved. The three Jamies all jumped at the chance!
“We’ll be setting off from the Lincoln store nice and early on Friday morning at about 7am, wearing our B&Q Children In Need aprons of course. If anyone wants to donate, they simply have to pop into their nearest B&Q and leave a donation in one of the many buckets we’ll have on display. If you see us on the way do give us a wave – the blisters will probably be setting in after a few miles so the support will really gee us up!”
The fearless foursome aim to arrive at B&Q Skegness at approximately 3pm on Saturday 18th October, where they’ll be given a heroes welcome by colleagues and customers alike.
